Seasons of Light

"Remarkable fine art photographs, A mastery of technical skills, artistry in composition, and selection of unique camera angles or subjects."
Smithsonian’s Nature’s Best Photography

"Jeff Mitchum has captured the amazing diversity of the land of Israel, it's haunting loneliness, and yet it's oneness with God. His photography has a gentleness and splendor that radiates the spirituality of Israel."
Daniel Ayalon,
U.S. Ambassador to Israel

Jeff Mitchum is one of the great American and international landscape photographers. He is often described as "the Ansel Adams of color. "Self taught his rise to success has seen a huge surge in recent years. Known for his compositional mastery and use of light and subject matter are key notes to his work.

His aesthetic is simple: capturing the stunning beauty of nature and dramatic landscape and bringing it in to people’s everyday lives. With a special affinity for capturing the intricate wonder and infinitely miraculous aspects of nature, his perspective and unique style in print is an extension of his own personal and devout love of God and men by the likes of Ansel Adams and John Muir who have influenced him with perfectionist detail.

"I love how you can take the light and the image and in a two to three minute sweep of a moment, you capture it. There is an amazing lightshow that God has put in the natural world where it can become spiritual if you approach it with the right mind. That is when you can share in the beauty of creation and are washed mind, eyes and soul."

Jeff’s work is dedicated to the mastery and mystery of color and pure light that exists in the created world. From the coastlands of California across the American landscape to Europe, Israel and down the wild plains of Africa, Jeff continues his studies in the extreme adventure of "painting with light."

Jeff is an accomplished runner and tri-athlete. A former All American, he has raced and competed several times in the grueling Hawaiian Ironman Triathlon, the 50 Mile Run on Catalina Island and continues to train and run competitively. Jeff's fitness plays a dramatic role in many of his images and creativity.

In capturing "The Man", a bull moose against the backdrop of Mt. Mckinley, he rode 160 miles to get this stunning photo. Jeff has a few rules for photography, "go slow and be patient, be picky with what and when you shoot, think way outside the box, if the image works then forget the rules and shoot it,the best shots are the ones you are willing to hike, freeze or get bit to get! Go early and stay late and don’t go to the dark side (digital)!"

"When I'm complimented on my fine art images, my heart responds simply: look at the cast I have been given to share, the art and the amazing beauty of nature's seasons and her light. If we see with our hearts first, we can capture and keep these images forever."
